par-sec n. [PAR(ALLAX) +
SEC(OND).] A unit of astronomical length based
on the distance from the earth at which stellar
parallax is one second of arc and equal to 3.258
light years, 1.918 x 1013 miles or 3.086 x 1013
kilometers.
Needless to say, that's a long way. On a
commercial jet, it would take you about 34
MILLION YEARS to travel one parsec - plus
refueling time.
