TrakSYS Capabilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
TrakSYS manages manufacturing operations in real time. Utilizing knowledge
of production progress, bottlenecks, asset performance, and workflow patterns, it
dynamically maps process capabilities. Specific intelligence concerning actual capabilities
for each product (SKU) by asset, resource, and date ranges is used to significantly
improve the accuracy and effectiveness of production planning and scheduling and
to reduce work in process (WIP).
Job & WIP Management
TrakSYS has a robust infrastructure for planning, managing, sorting, and executing
jobs. Jobs are created directly or downloaded from ERP. TrakSYS can further
break down each job into function-specific entities (e.g., staging, weighing & dispensing,
assembly, batch, packaging, etc.) for real-time management of work in process (WIP)
throughout the value stream. Current and historical job information is available
in the form of thorough electronic production records (EPRs).
Workflow & Task Management
TrakSYS makes it possible to model the exact workflow in the manufacturing
value stream. This is critical for optimizing operations for reducing the lead time
throughout the manufacturing process. By defining the workflow and tasks (together
with expectations, instructions, timing, notifications, escalation, and required
responses), TrakSYS will ensure proper execution of assignments and provides
visibility into areas where process improvement would result in maximum yield.
Inventory Management
TrakSYS monitors the consumption of raw and in process goods and updates the
quantity on hand in real time. Coupling this with the information about quality,
yield, and waste creates a consumption model that helps to optimize inventory levels
needed for the best financial performance. The correlated current inventory level
and consumption efficiency make it possible to implement an effective paperless
kanban system and a just-in-time (JIT) model for managing inventory.
Labor Management
Personnel from various disciplines play important roles in the overall execution
of manufacturing operations. In order to complete jobs effectively, proper human
resources must be available to fulfill various manual and interactive functions.
TrakSYS manages groups/teams/individual user assignments, classifications,
credentials, schedule, and time allocations. Furthermore, TrakSYS provides
the visibility to assess the impact of personnel on jobs by function/role, asset,
product, and schedule to help optimize human resource contributions.
Maintenance Management
As TrakSYS manages operations and the associated tasks and workflow, it can
also focus on improving asset maintenance. By creating an overview of equipment
faults/breakdowns, their frequencies, and root causes, TrakSYS will bring
a fresh perspective to better manage maintenance activities, PM, resources, spare
parts, and cost. The operations-related approach to managing maintenance activities
delivers improved KPIs (MTTR, downtime, PM intervals, MTBF, labor, parts, etc.).
Material Management
Many manufacturing operations require consumption of raw materials or components.
To achieve streamlined operations, material usage must be efficient and traceable.
TrakSYS manages material consumption based on jobs in various areas and stages
of production. Source lots, quantities, transaction time and date, locations, operator’s
ID, utilized assets, related tasks, and signatures are recorded for complete track
and trace functionality. The material usage information is used for inventory optimization.
Recipe & Batch Management
TrakSYS manages all tasks and operations related to batch execution. Recipes
may be downloaded from other systems (e.g., ERP or other existing applications)
or directly created in TrakSYS. Recipes can be asset dependent and contain
all needed attributes for batch execution such as job, batch ID, materials, compounds,
alternates, rules, steps, functions, operations, sequences, targets, quality checks,
acceptance criteria, regulatory tasks, measurements, and buy-off signatures. TrakSYS
produces comprehensive electronic batch records (EBRs) in compliance with FDA 21
CFR Part 11.
Quality Management
TrakSYS manages various aspects of quality-related tasks: setup, time-based
checks and recoding of process variables (e.g., food safety and HACCP), samples,
quality tests and their results (pass, fail, hold, review, etc.), statistical process
control (SPC), and notifications. TrakSYS can also use in-depth analysis of
test results and findings, as recorded by laboratory information management system
(LIMS) and laboratory instrumentation, for further enhancement of the electronic
production records (sorted by job, SKU, function, date, asset, etc.).
Dynamic Messaging & Notification
Typical manufacturing process workflow consist of many activities that have to be
coordinated for optimal management and execution of operations. This is a significant
challenge. TrakSYS makes it possible to orchestrate notifications with dynamic
content – based on individual roles and conditions – to be delivered to the stakeholders
in a timely fashion regardless of where they are. This notification service provides
actionable information, reminders, exception alerts, and escalation rules to ensure
completion of tasks and assignments on time.
Sustainability & Energy Management
Making a commitment to sustainability is good corporate citizenship and it's good
for business too! Sustainability is much more than energy efficiency. TrakSYS
helps to effectively manage the use of utilities (electricity, water, steam, compressed
air, fuel, raw materials, etc.). Not only are consumption patterns mapped, but the
causes of waste (and their cost/impact) are monitored – in real time – to make possible
the proactive correction of erratic operations. The resulting savings are quite
significant.
Manufacturing Intelligence
TrakSYS is interfaced in real time directly to the various manufacturing operations,
systems, and applications. TrakSYS also engages the human resources that are
part of the overall execution workflow. By managing the multi-source data acquisition,
analytics, and business rules, TrakSYS delivers a well-focused wealth of personalized,
relevant, and timely manufacturing intelligence (MI) that is critical for effective decision-making.
MI is delivered via the TrakSYS web-based knowledge portal – for real-time
use – to the office, remote, and mobile clients. The interactive, discipline-specific
dashboards empower the users to measurably improve operations.
Performance Management
TrakSYS is designed to measure, control, and improve process capability and
performance throughout the value stream regardless of infrastructure. TrakSYS
makes it possible to define KPIs specific to each area of operations for meaningful
insight into constraints and their root causes. This makes performance an enterprise
initiative instead of an isolated endeavor. By prioritizing bottlenecks by impact,
TrakSYS helps to streamline continuous improvement efforts to get the best
ROI in the shortest time possible.
Application Programming Interface (API)
TrakSYS makes it possible to connect to various applications (e.g., ERP, CMMS,
PLM, etc.) to bi-directionally exchange information. The application extensibility
and connectivity to business systems improves the information flow throughout the
value stream to help measurably improve manufacturing operations. The API is available
as both a .NET Assembly and a web service.
