How APS Group Improved OEE 22% in Three Months with TrakSYS

APS Group is a team of more than 900 thinkers, creators, and production experts spread across Manchester, Edinburgh, London, Eindhoven, Paris, and Boston. Established in 1961 as a UK mailing business, APS Group has grown into a worldwide marketing solutions provider with 25 locations globally, producing creative designs and managing print spend for companies around the world.

To continue meeting customer demand while maintaining the high-quality service its customers expect, APS Group needed to better handle Lean management and operational efficiency. The team worked with fellow UK-based Parsec Automation, LLC certified partner Cimlogic to implement a TrakSYS solution built around that goal.

APS Group had little real-time data to work with and minimal insight into equipment run times and performance. Operators lacked access to KPIs or reliable performance metrics, leaving the team without the facts it needed to identify underperforming assets or justify future capital expenditure.

Cimlogic used the Lean and performance management capabilities of TrakSYS to integrate with APS Group's existing business systems and two designated Manroland 10-color printing presses. With its native interoperability, TrakSYS installed within four hours without disrupting ongoing production.

Once TrakSYS was live, operators could immediately access the real-time data and KPIs they had been looking for, giving the team the shop floor visibility needed to make an immediate impact on production and efficiency.

APS Group improved OEE by 22% in the first three months after implementation. Real-time OEE, TEEP, and MTBF metrics now support the company's Lean management program and waste reduction efforts, and the team can track the quality of materials coming in from suppliers.
