Eckes-Granini digitalized its paper-based record system, creating audit-ready traceability across the shop floor.

For us, it is important to maintain accurate Electronic Production Records (EPRs) and keep track of critical process values to comply with the regulatory requirement related to food safety. With TrakSYS, we have been able to achieve both while improving the productivity and performance of our operations.

The Company

Eckes-Granini got its start in the late 1800s when German farmer and inn-keeper Peter Eckes began distilling fruit and wine by-products. Over the following decades, the company grew and eventually acquired the juice brand Granini, among others, becoming renowned for fruit juices available in 70 countries. Today, Eckes-Granini operates with fully owned subsidiaries and strategic partners, primarily in Europe, and employs 1,719 people.

The Challenge

To meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements while maintaining product quality and production goals, Eckes-Granini needed a way to optimize its operations. The company faced disparate implementations and a paper-based record system, and any platform rollout would require buy-in from both management and operational teams.

The Solution

The Eckes-Granini team set out to build a TrakSYS rollout that addressed all of its needs. With its interoperability, TrakSYS readily interfaced with existing infrastructure, including SAP, the warehouse management system, and serial shipping container codes (SSCC), without disruption.

Operator-specific screens were placed throughout the facility to help teams quickly identify KPIs, losses, downtimes, root cause analysis, quality data, and safety and check forms. Both operations and management were impressed by how configurable TrakSYS was and by the support Parsec provided.

The Impact

Utilizing TrakSYS, Eckes-Granini increased production by 10% within the first year and reduced waste, including overfilling, by 30% through statistical process control (SPC).

The company also digitalized its paper-based record system, secured buy-in from operators and management, and gained access to real-time quality metrics and KPIs, helping identify the root causes of production bottlenecks and facilitate informed communication between shifts, lines, and crews.
